I have a serious addiction to Gossip Girl. Its addictive! Finished watching second series last night, ready for the third series starting on Wednesday. Except when it starts, I will be in Berlin...thank the stars for Sky Plus! So I am now Sky Plus-ing Gossip Girl, House, X Factor and maybe True Blood. Not sure on True Blood, never watched it before but its just starting next week. Oh and I can`t Sky Plus the new BBC Emma due to being on the same time as House, huh. So will have to buy that when I come back.

Check out www.austenblog.com for updates on Emma, does look promising. Despite BBC announcing it is cutting down on period dramas. Thats right, according to the Radio Times (cant think of the link but google it if interested) the BBC are going to focus on modern dramas. To those not used to the BBC think Pride & Prejudice, Bleak House, think Little Dorrit. Think Pride & Prejudice!!

Well as mentioned above, I am going to be away next week, leaving on Tuesday for just over a fortnight. Berlin, Dresden, Wroclaw then Krakow. Or Germany and Poland for quick. Very excited but as title suggests, busy!

Have fun peeps

Just in case anyone was wondering why I still have not uploaded the photos from the Worcester exhibit, real life hit pretty dramatically last week. My Grandad went into intensive care last Monday and on Friday he passed away. He was absolutely healthy a few weeks ago, came down with a chest infection and very quickly deteriorated.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and obviously hes in my mind a lot at the moment. So for last week, and probably this week, other things will be on the backburner.

Sorry to cloud people`s days, just giving an update. I am still hoping I will be posting a lot more to this blog, but clearly that is now delayed.

The main thing is I`m worried about money for my holiday next month and there is no where for money to come from except £30 my sister owes me!

So went online checked my usual sites to cheer me up then enjoyed feasting on pics from Gossip Girl, my new fashion crush. Have only watched the first series (though have watched that twice) and I cant afford to spend money on second series but desperately, desperately want it.

OK deep breaths...have Tudors series 3 to watch. Finished watching series 2 last night, cried over Anne Boleyn and cursed Henry. Now have couple of episodes of series 3 which I`ve sky-plussed.

Feeling a lot calmer now, going for meal with friend tonight which will cheer me up.

And I will start looking at prices for accom. and travel for holiday. Am hostelling round Germany and Poland for two weeks with a friend next month, which I`m very much looking forward to.

I know a lot of people on my friends list are a great fan of Marie Antoinette and costumes so I thought this might be of interest to some of you. I recently read Caroline Weber`s `Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette wore to the Revolution` and can strongly recommend it to anyone remotely curious about MA or fashion of that era. This book was incidentally, strongly quoted in the Vogue article which appeared with the MA photoshoot (as in the film).
Particularly interesting, especially for anyone looking forward to the film`The Duchess`, starring Keira Knightley which is to come out soon, is the fact that these two women were friends. According to Weber, MA actually gave Georgiana a dress as a gift (page 150).Doubtful this will feature in the new film but interesting nonetheless.
But anyways, if anyone is wanting to know more about MA as a fashion icon and how her clothes reflected her life, do check out this book.

well i watched the series 2 robin hood finale and without saying too much (i cant add anything to whats already been said) i was absolutely shell shocked.i cant remember the last time i cried so much!
i also watched the first episode of the new sense and sensibility and have quite mixed sentiments on it. in some ways its very good, particular kudos to mrs dashwood, colonel brandon (hes not as good as alan rickman yet, but its a possibility) and edward. but the casting of the sisters feels very similar to the film`s, and it is a very modern adaptation, by which i mean it will remind you of pride and prejudice 2005 in its camera angles, outdoor scenery focus (does that make sense?) and "reality". What do I mean by "reality"? well its andrew davis so of course we have the seduction scene, everyone is calling each other by their first names and the cottage they live in looks like it should feature in a charity ad. maybe its mroe realistic but it also feels slightly uncomfortable and obvious for someone who admires the pride and prejudice 1995, sense and sensibility or even the recent northanger abbey.
on a slightly less technical note, has anyone noticed that the heroines tend to have wispy hair and the women you`re not supposed to like have slick hair?
but im looking forward to the next episode and I`ll keep watching.

I mainly have the blues (see subject) cos I`ve been ill since 2008 hit.
though every where i look its christmas im not really feeling it. its kind of hitting me recently that my student life is over (at least for now) and im now working. im one of many people who didnt know what was going to happen after university and i still feel im waiting for whatever it is to happen. i realise i`ve only been working for a month now and it will take time to settle in, i guess i just need that time.

my sewing class finished today which im grateful for. a 2 hour lesson a week for 8 weeks n i didnt finish my skirt. i cant believe it. today all i did was sew 8" and create 2 buttonholes. this isnt my fault-the teacher doesnt want me to decide on my own the next moves-so i have to wait to check everything by her. and then she seems to think its my fault i dont understand things. Argh! but its over now.

im sorry this is just a long ranty message. what else can i say? im catching up on robin hood on youtube-thank you to RHabroad! im going christmas shopping tomorrow which will probably help my spirit a bit better.and we are putting our tree up next weekend which always excites me. my birthday next week which i really need 2 start tidying up for and sorting out!i have friends coming to stay and a night out to consider. half a dozen people dont know whether they can come or not (christmas parties always clash with my birthday)
oh and also want to recommend a website www.hoolala.co.uk. it has beautiful jewellry and the owner has been very helpful when i have made a couple of queries. still time to order before christmas!
right im going upstairs to watch sex and the city and tidy up a bit.hopefully my next message will be more christmasy!

i have an interview on tuesday! its for the local library services book processing dept.id really like it since the hours seem flexible and i love reading and anything to do with books so it would suit me! and its not far from where i live-i could walk it a lot of the time. so im doing my research now on the business while my one smart top soaks in a bucket of oxi-clean lol.

i`ve been in a pretty bad mood today since we found out today that my brother and sister-in-law are not going to be able to visit before christmas with my new niece as we hoped. its probably going to be spring or summer before they can which means she will have lost her tinyiness by then. they`ve not visited in winter before so my sister-in-law has never experienced a British winter. its kind of depressing but i guess theres nothing we can do about it.

we went book shopping to cheer ourselves up and i managed to pick up some chalet school books which is so rare! and a julia quinn, gerald durrell and "tipping the velvet" which i`ve heard good things about. also somethin by edith templeton and i know i`ve heard that name before but i cant remember where.

wish me luck!

well im back from my mediterranean cruise. which was wonderful though not what we expected.
for example my vest tops were only really useful for layering most of the time! and i managed to come back with a cold so have spent all today croaking at people which is does not make the first episode of the x factor live finals easy watching.
but it was absolutely amazing to see places like rome and florence. it was so surreal looking at the trevi fountain and florence`s cathedral. already looking forward to returning.
autumn, if not winter, has now truly set in as is evident by my cold. am wearing some funky purple tights i bought in olbia (i love name dropping) and am looking forward to my birthday and christmas. but it also unfortunately means getting down to some real job hunting.

ooh gakked this from ferdalump so if you`re interested go ahead:

Online journals are little filters that we each see every one else's lives through, the parts others choose to share with us. That said, we all think we are close, but really we seldom know *a lot* about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Or something not so obvious. Ask away.

Then, if you want to, post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
